Usage

The Multi-Tool is the currently best digging/chipping tool in The Escapists and The Escapists 2. It is currently not on Mobile.

Effectiveness

The Multi-Tool is 5/5 for both digging and chipping. Like a Sturdy Pickaxe it takes 5 uses on a wall to chip through (20% per successful chip, ), and it plows through a rock underground in no time (depending on the rocks initial durability usually 1-3 hits). Digging dirt underground takes 3 uses on a dirt space to clear it (33% on each dirt space, 50% per dig in TE2, meaning 2 hits), just like a Sturdy Shovel, and 5 uses to dig a hole up or down (20% per dig, also 50% per dig in TE2, also 2 hits).

Durability

The Multi-Tool only degrades 1% per use (5% in TE2), meaning you can dig 33 dirt spaces underground (10 in TE2) or chip through 20 wall blocks (10 in TE2, verify) before it breaks - assuming you have enough fatigue to dig that much! Unfortunately, there is no way to repair or upgrade a Multi-Tool, so If you need to dig more than it can hold up to, you have to make a brand new one from scratch.

A Multi-Tool has the power of a Sturdy Shovel and a Sturdy Pickaxe together, combined into one item. So you don't have to switch between a shovel for dirt and a pickaxe for rocks while digging a tunnel. You only need to have one item. This makes it much faster to tunnel underground. And because of the durability you can chip/dig through many more dirt spaces or wall blocks before it breaks compared to a shovel/pickaxe.

Obtaining

This item can only be obtained by crafting and is never found in inmates desks or ever sold by inmates. It is never even found in a Prisoner Stash!:
